Luke Cooper

Luke Cooper brings the perspective of a former college basketball player, attorney, entrepreneur and investor to his role as Strategic In-House Counsel at International Player Services.

A basketball scholarship gave Luke the opportunity to attend Adelphi University, where he became a four-year starter before earning his degree and later his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law and MBA from Babson College. His career since basketball has taken him across law, technology, entrepreneurship, venture capital and private investment.

Luke has built and successfully exited technology companies, including Fixt, which was acquired by Fortune 500 company Assurant. He later founded Latimer Ventures and is a Partner at Preface Ventures with a total AUM of $125M. In these roles he has worked with founders and investors on company formation, growth, financing, governance and long-term value creation.

At IPS, Luke is bringing those experiences back to the next generation of athletes.

His focus is helping young athletes and their families better understand the legal and business considerations surrounding an increasingly complex sports landscape—from contracts and intellectual property to NIL, business formation, financial opportunities and the protection of an athlete's long-term interests.

As a former college athlete himself, Luke understands that an athletic opportunity can change the trajectory of a young person's life. His work with IPS is centered on helping athletes approach that opportunity with greater knowledge, stronger protection and a clearer understanding of the value they are building both on and beyond the court.
